“WELCOME TO COUNTRY”
by Martyn Iles
There are a few terms.
a/k/a “Acknowledgement of Country”.
a/k/a “Land Acknowledgement”.
And it’s global - even in the USA - I (Martyn Iles) sat through one in a theatre in Chicago.
TRUTH PILL: Pagan, Paganistic, Paganisation = SPIRITISIM1
It is not possible to separate welcome to country from pagan beliefs.
The reason elders past and future are both acknowledged and respected is because they're regarded as present in spirit.
The reason the land is part of the acknowledgement is that their spirits are not only present, but also one with the land; that is from where they come, and to where they return.
The physical land is not simply real estate, but a living, breathing web of ancestral presence - past and future. It is the spiritual matrix of all things - like Gaia, as others have called it.
It's a system of creation-worship, like all paganistic systems.
Paganistic systems are devilish, they degrade life, and they rob God of His creatorial glory.
This modern rush to 'reconcile' with indigenous people is too often a disguised effort at re-paganisation; an effort to keep them in the darkness of pre-Christian spiritual decay.
In other words, it's pushing in the wrong direction... a direction I cannot have anything to do with whatsoever because I serve a Holy God who has no part in spiritual darkness.
So... that's why it's a no from me.
A Christian reconciliation would move forward, not backward. It would be based on simple forgiveness and the advent of a new day with the past behind us. That is what God does and what God requires - something the pagan spirits have never known nor practised, so they trap people in misery.

Do you know that the supposed "Welcome to Country" ceremony has absolutely no historical heritage with the Aborigines?
It was invented by Ernie Dingo and Richard Walley who developed a ceremony to welcome a group of Maori artists who were participating in the Perth International Arts Festival in 1976.
The welcome, extended on behalf of the Noongar people, was intended to mirror the visitors' own traditions, while incorporating elements of Aboriginal culture.
Walley recalled that Māori performers were uncomfortable performing their cultural act without having been acknowledged or welcomed by the people of the land, so he and Ernie came up with this farce.
